The 2010 Daegu Yangnyeong-si Herbal Medicine Festival, jointly hosted by the Daegu Metropolitan City and Jung-gu and organized by the Committee for the Conservation of Yangnyeong-si, is being held between May 1st(Sat.) and May 5th(Wed.) for five days at the Namseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu (Yakjeong street) and the Yangnyeong-si Herbal Medicine Culture Center area.
This is the 33rd year for the Daegu Yangnyeong-si Herbal Medicine Event, and you can enjoy various programs to experience the diverse culture of traditional herbal medicine under the main theme of ‘The best medicine of our ancestors cross 400 years to form the Medi-City of Daegu Yangnyeong-si’ and the sub-theme of ‘The sky of the 400 year-old Yangnyeong-si opens up in 2010’.
The Daegu Yangnyeong-si is Korea’s first herbal medicine market, established by the order of King Hyojong in 1658, and it prides itself on its the history and tradition of being at the center of linking the silk road of oriental herbal medicine culture with Korea. Especially, the Daegu Yangnyeong-si Herbal Medicine Festival has been designated as a culture and tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the last nine years. It has established itself as the representative herbal medicine culture festival which widely advertises the quintessence of Korean herbal medicine culture, locally and internationally.
